Chadkirk Dog Training Club

Our First Puppy Class

The club held its first puppy class tonight and gave a dog treat welcome to the five latest recruits:

Zack and Jess, bother and sister Staffies, Ruby the German Shepherd, Frankie the Springer Spaniel and Pati the Miniature English Bull Terrier.

The first lesson was very much about the beginning to teach the dogs to walk to heel and obey simple commands. And having fun!

Learning how to socialise with other dogs is also important and for some of the pups, this was one of their first steps into the big world.

For the owners, there were also early lessons in caring for their dogs and on the right is Pati having her teeth checked.

The eight week course is part of the Kennel Club’s Puppy Foundation Scheme and run by our trainers, John Rowland, Kate Grindrod and Tracy Barry.

Future lessons will include all the basics of care and training and hopefully the pups will then move up to the ‘big school’ of obedience, agility and flyball.

There are more photos of the first night in our gallery section and you can learn more about the puppy courses by clicking here.
